Week 4   Electronics Production

PCB fabrication:

My first approach was to setup the milling machine “Modela MDX 20” and send the job to create my PCB board with the new fab modules http://fabmodules.org/

​

The machine was easily set and operational, but with my computer (running windows 10) I had several problems related to the drivers and the controller to create the connection with the machine.

​

After checking different websites, tutorials and checking in the Roland customer support web for the drivers and the problems related to connection I had no luck and i was running out of time, So I just try a different computer with Ubuntu and the old version of fab modules and it was working perfectly.

Assignment:

​

-Make an in-circuit programmer by milling the PCB,

Software Installation was difficult with windows 10 and 7.

After following the tutorials and trying different ways to trouble shoot the toolchain we reach the point of detecting the AVR programmer (Amall translucent blue programmer) at windows 10, but we never manage to detect the usbtiny board to program it .

We change the approach to Ububtu and it work out perfectly after some trouble shooting at the soldering components. The board is program!!

In the next video you can see the process with the milling machine creating the trace, and the following picture it shows the results for the two models.​

Basically I have follow Brian´s tutorial to create it, to solder the components to the board and also to program it.
